Parks is a four-generation, family-owned business founded by J.B. Williams, Sr., grandfather of the current owner, Bart Williams. The original company served as a local drayage firm hauling freight from the railroad stations to businesses in the Uniontown area and performing local household moves with a wagon and a team of horses.
In 1909, J.B. Williams sold all the horses and wagons and purchased the company's first truck. He began doing interstate moving and was granted a "Grandfather Certificate" by the Interstate Commerce Commission to perform interstate moves in 1935.

In 1945, Arthur R. Williams and Alonzo Parks purchased J.B. Williams & Son Transfer, H.A. Parks & Sons Transfer, and Keystone Transfer. The three companies merged into one company, which began doing business as H.A. Parks & Son Transfer.
In 1967, Alonzo Parks retired and Arthur Williams, father of Bart Williams, purchased Mr. Parks' interest in the business. Two years later, this new firm joined a group of agents that purchased the operating authority and business of United Van Lines. Parks has continued its affiliation with United over the years and has developed into one of the largest agents in the United family. Parks is one of the original founding agents which owns and operates United Van Lines, Inc.
